Mt. Rumney Escapes
About Us
About Us
As life is a journey, let us be part of yours — in a place where nature speaks and serenity reigns.
Welcome to Mt Rumney Escapes — a private, family-owned retreat nestled in peaceful bushland just 15 minutes from Hobart’s CBD and airport.
More than just a place to stay, this is a sanctuary where you can breathe deeply, reconnect with nature, and rediscover a sense of calm, clarity, and wonder.
A Natural Escape with History in Every Hill
Mt Rumney is steeped in Tasmanian history. Named after William Rumney, an early settler and constable granted the land in 1828, this region offers one of the most expansive panoramic views in Tasmania. From the summit of Mt Rumney Road, you can gaze across Hobart, the fertile plains of Richmond and Sorell, Bruny Island, and the winding Derwent River.
The views that once captivated early pioneers remain untouched and spectacular today—forming the breathtaking backdrop of your stay at Mt Rumney Escapes.
🏡 About Our Cabins
Our retreat offers six self-contained, off-grid houses, designed for couples, families, groups, and solo adventurers. Choose from:
