About Us

A private, family owned property located in a peaceful rural environment on Hobart’s eastern shore, Mount Rumney Escapes is an enticing property for anyone seeking a unique Tasmanian holiday with natural bush surrounds! An easily accessible location for exploring Hobart and its surrounding regions with only 15 minutes to Hobart airport and 15 minutes to Hobart CBD.

The current cabin is 2 bedroom self contained including a kitchen with lounge, bathroom with washing machine.  It has a queen bed in one room and 4 single bunks in another room.  The cabin is fully fenced and all linen and cooking and essential items on site.  

Shopping is only 10 minutes to the main shopping centre in the eastern Shore called Eastlands and surrounding this area are many eating options like McDonalds, Praties, Domino’s, KFC, Subway, Restaurants and many more within Rosny and Bellerive.

Beautiful sunrises & bush views from your cabin compliment your daily Tasmanian adventures while staying with us and there are sheep, horses, goat, birds, chooks and the usual domestic animals around the property.

The best part is the wildlife from mountain parrots, wild deer, kangaroo, echidna’s, possum, white and black cockatoo, crows, eagles, owls, finches with a variety of colours, blue tongue lizards and many more.

We appreciate the opportunity to share with our guests, a unique experience within a precious bush environment we love to call home!  We are also a pet friendly accommodation, but you must get approval first!

There are walks all around the property and surrounding area’s and mountain bike riding close by at Mornington.  We are only 10 minutes away from some of our amazing beaches and 20 minutes if you like a surf.

The location is very central to many tourist attractions like Mona, Salamanca Market, Mt Wellington, Port Arthur, Zoo Doo, Historic Richmond Village, Bruny Island and many more attractions you will find on our site.
